A third pillar of sustained success in Austria

Jan 1, 2003 | Market News

From the  start of production in Tafernerstraße via the development centers in  VillachGraz and  Linz to the birth of Infineon in 1999, we have already covered the history of the Siemens semiconductor division and Infineon in Austria. Some younger colleagues might ask themselves why only two of our competence areas are mentioned. Where is the global business responsibility?

In contrast to manufacturing and R&D, global business responsibility only came to Austria in 2003. At that time, the group moved the entire Power Management & Supply business unit and parts of the Automotive, Industrial Electronics & Multimarket (AIM) unit to Villach.

With additional responsibility, new colleagues came from Munich to Villach. Among them were familiar faces such as Reinhard Ploss, who returned to the site as head of the AIM division, where he had already worked as Head of Technology in the 1990s.
