Driving electrification and decarbonization for commercial vehicles

Rising CO2 emissions and new environmental policies are leading to increased electrification of commercial vehicles. Nevertheless, challenges remain to increase battery autonomy, to optimize charging time and to minimize maintenance downtime.

At Infineon, we are the semiconductor leader in system solutions for the commercial vehicle sector and we are addressing the commercial vehicle market by offering scalable, reliable, and efficient solutions for Medium-Duty Distribution, Heavy-Duty Distribution, and Heavy-Duty Long-haul vehicles. Our products and systems are designed for quality leadership, meeting automotive (AQG324) and industrial (IEC) qualifications.

Our broad portfolio offers one-stop shop solutions for inverter, battery management system, on-board charger and high-voltage DC-DC.

Beyond our system offering, we also want to foster services by create partnership with Tiers 1 and OEMs, ensure technical support and provide trainings.

Together let’s drive the commercial vehicle revolution towards decarbonization and digitalization.

Decarbonizing commercial vehicles with Infineon semiconductors

Commercial, construction, and agricultural vehicles are the backbone of industries that drive our global economy. They play a vital role in enhancing productivity, efficiency, and safety across various sectors, ensuring the smooth functioning of businesses and the provision of essential goods and services.

Commercial vehicles encompass a wide range of vehicles primarily utilized for transporting goods, people, or both. Here, we talk about trucks, buses, forklifts, etc. Construction vehicles, on the other hand, are designed to undertake the demanding tasks involved in building infrastructure and completing construction projects. Lastly, agricultural vehicles are specifically designed for use in farming and agricultural practices. Collectively, Infineon refers to these vehicles as CAVs (Commercial, Agriculture and Construction Vehicles).

Commercial, construction and agricultural vehicles

From autonomous driving to electrification, the biggest mobility megatrends of our time are shaping the field of commercial, construction and agricultural vehicles (CAV).

Semi- and fully autonomous vehicles present a range of new opportunities in terms of efficiency, precision and safety. Imagine machines that run 24/7 with no downtime - Tractors that independently navigate their surroundings and react based on data they collect. At the same time, electrification is increasingly attractive CAVs - Electric drivetrains help manufacturers comply with the latest emissions and energy regulations while operators look forward to greater yield rates.
