SLC52G paves the way for government identification applications into the next decade and beyond
Building on the success of the SLE 78 family with its sophisticated Integrity Guard concept, SLC52G is our next-generation security controller family. It is custom-designed for challenging government ID projects that demand robust, reliable and long-lifetime solutions.
This new family combines the proven track record of the SLE 78 family with state-of-the-art security features to enable secured storage of personal credentials in typical government-issued documents such as ePassports, national eID cards, eHealthcare cards, eDriver’s licenses and eSignatures. It is also ideally suited for use in multi-application schemes, e.g. combining governmental services with a CIPURSE™ enabled transport application.
SLC52G platform: Stepping into the future - with LDS 2.0
With more than 750 billion security chips based on the Integrity Guard security concept already enabling high-security applications such as government ID applications such as national ID cards and ePassports, our SLE 78 family has been setting the standard for government security since 2010. The new SLC 52G family of security cryptocontrollers (dual-interface, contactless and contactbased) builds on this extraordinary success story, paving the way for identification applications into the next decade and beyond.
A future-proof feature set – with support for example for LDS 2.0, VHBR, 100 MHz clock speeds and cache-based storage – accelerates processing dramatically. Users can look forward to faster transaction times during automated border crossing, for instance – a critical advantage in government ID projects.
In an increasingly mobile world, multi-application cards are growing in popularity – promising to make life easier and more convenient for users. SLC52G is the platform of choice to meet these evolving needs as its architecture has been custom-designed for multi-purpose cards combining identification transport ticketing, for example.
Integrity Guard combines several highly sophisticated digital security mechanisms that collectively cover multiple classes of potential attack. Integrity Guard highlights include:
- A fully encrypted data path leaving no plaintext on the chip - incl. calculation with encrypted numbers in the CPU itself
- Comprehensive digital error detection capabilities over the complete data path
- Self-checking dual CPUs
With Coil on Module, we have developed an innovative inductive coupling technology that replaces traditional electro-mechanical links with inductive connections. It reduces capital investment costs, saves on consumables, maximizes production yield and promotes a lean approach to stock management.
