IMD110 Family
iMOTION™ IMD110 driver - Motor/PFC controller with Gate Driver and Voltage Regulator
The iMOTION™ IMD110 is a series of highly integrated ICs for the control of three phase motors. The devices integrate the motor controller with a high voltage three-phase gate driver and a voltage regulator. We offer the driver as a ready-to-use solution for motor and (optional) PFC control with an integrated scripting engine granting flexibility for a wide range of applications. The family takes advantage of the latest generation of our field-proven Motion Control Engine (MCE 2.0), implementing Field Oriented Control (FOC) and using space vector PWM to achieve highest energy efficiency. The MCE integrates multiple protection features like over- and under-voltage, over current, rotor lock etc.
All IMD110 devices support the functional safety requirements according to the IEC/UL 60335-1 (‘Class B’).

The IMD110 drivers are an optimal combination of a ready2use motor controller with SOI gate driver. The devices can be combined with almost any low to high voltage MOSFET or IGBT to create a compact drive solution. The full set of protections, improved clearance and creepage makes the IMD110 to a highly robust and reliable driver family.

State of the art sensorless algorithm for permanent magnet motor control is described in this video. Common pitfalls of sensorless control, such as a non-controlled startup are easily avoided with the Motion Control Engine (MCE) inside infineon iMOTION devices. A clean startup, without vibrations and oscillations is demonstrated with a low inertia fan motor.
iMOTION™ ICs integrate hardware and software functionality required for controlling PMSM motors with field-oriented control (FOC) (with and without sensors). iMOTION™ products are based on Infineon’s patented, field-tested Motion Control Engine (MCE), which eliminates software coding from the development process. As a result, all users have to do to implement a variable speed drive is configure the MCE for the respective motor drive system.
Discover how Infineon’s Modular Application Design Kit, or MADK evaluation platform, covers 3-phase motor drive applications with a power level that goes from 20 Watt up to 10 kilowatt.
