Manufacturing and quality checks

Jun 15, 1971 | Market News

The first employees at the site Villach manufactured so-called "active components"; glass, plastic and photodiodes. Under the microscope, wires with a thickness of 20 microns were soldered. The assembly of integrated circuits began as early as 1971 and test fields for diodes were set up. During this time, women were predominantly employed.

The daily quality check was particularly bizarre. For this purpose, the glass diodes were hung at a height of about two meters and dropped for testing. If the diode broke, it did not meet the quality standards. These diodes were shipped to Munich every week.
