Villach, April 12, 2024 – “Gemeinnützige Personalservice Kärnten GmbH” (GPS) is building a training and education campus in the tpv Technology Park Villach. Just a few months after the groundbreaking ceremony, the roof has been completed. Infineon Austria will train its apprentices here as the main tenant from fall 2024 and increase the number of apprentices.

The topping-out ceremony marks the start of the interior work on the three-storied building, which will also include a photovoltaic system, electric charging systems and green spaces. A total of 9 million euros will be invested. State-of-the-art workshops, laboratory space, classrooms, social rooms and offices will be created on an area of around 2,850 square meters. In addition to Infineon, bfi Carinthia and WIFI Carinthia will also be located there.

Bernhard Sapetschnig, GPS Managing Director: "We are right on schedule and will go into operation in September 2024. The good cooperation with all partners involved is a key factor in this rapid implementation. Thank you to everyone involved, as well as to the state of Carinthia, the city of Villach and the Carinthian social partners for making this flagship project possible."

Infineon: Apprenticeship training close to the Villach production site
Infineon will use 1,500 m 2 for its apprenticeship “Electrical and Metal Engineering” and bring in state-of-the-art equipment. Until now, the basic apprenticeship training took place at the Technical Academy (TAK) in St. Andrä/Lavanttal. TAK will continue to be Infineon's proven training partner in Villach. Infineon is currently training a total of around 100 apprentices. In the fall, 40 new apprentices will start the dual apprenticeship in electronics and metal technology, doubling the number of apprentices Infineon takes on each year in this area.

Thomas Reisinger, Board Member for Operations Infineon Technologies Austria: "I am delighted that the construction work is progressing according to plan. The new campus means that the apprentices will be in close to our production facilities in future, which is a real advantage. With our experienced training team, we are creating the best conditions for young people in the region in a state-of-the-art environment. It is an eminently important milestone in the further development and expansion of our innovation factory with sought-after technical specialists."
