Infineon Austria makes the wishes of 500 children come true and hands out 30 notebooks to apprentices

Christmas as the feast of joy and the celebration of solidarity has a very special meaning this year in times of the coronavirus crisis, and the Infineon team are once again supporting children and young people in our region.

The Infineon Christmas tree was virtual. The wishes were real.

The Christmas Wishes Tree campaign was organized for the third time this year together with the Carinthia-based socio-educational organizations “Amica Jugendbetreuung”, “Diakonie de La Tour”, “Josefinum”, “Haus Antonius” and “Kinder und Jugendhilfe Villach”. Children and Tenagers wrote their Christmas wishes on carefully hand-made cards and sent the cards to the Infineon Christmas angel, who used them to decorate the virtual Christmas Wishes Tree on a dedicated online platform. It did not take long for the Infineon employees to take down all 500 wishes from the tree by a click of the mouse and fulfil more wishes than ever before.

Laptops for apprentices

Due to the pandemic apprentices are also faced with major challenges in their training. Their vocational schools have switched to remote teaching and classes are held online. To make sure that young people are not left behind in their training, Infineon Austria has made thirty notebooks available to vocational schools that reported an urgent need. The notebooks will be distributed and put to use at the vocational schools in Villach, St. Veit/Glan, Klagenfurt and Wolfsberg before Christmas. Infineon was able to make this donation within the shortest possible time in cooperation with “AfB mildtätige und gemeinnützige GmbH”, a company where people with impairments work to ensure the resource-saving secondary use of IT hardware.
