Infineon Linz: Building shell at the new development site completed

Linz, 20 August 2019 – Only a few months after the ground-breaking ceremony, the shell of the future development center of Infineon Austria holding company DICE (Danube Integrated Circuit Engineering) in Donaufeldstrasse has been completed. The successful progress of the construction work was celebrated with the traditional toppingout ceremony today. 
 
Project completion scheduled for spring 2020

Infineon DICE CEO Manfred Ruhmer, architect Prof. Wolfgang Kaufmann and property developers WKI Immobilien GmbH welcomed numerous guests at the topping-out ceremony, including the Mayor of Linz Klaus Luger, Vice-Mayor Markus Hein, many representatives from the trades working on the site, and members of staff of Infineon.  "We are well on track and are planning to have the building ready for occupancy earlier than scheduled. The fast progress of the project is mainly due to the good cooperation with all the companies involved", architect Prof. Wolfgang Kaufmann is pleased. 
 
World leader with high-frequency technologies

"The new building comes just in time", Infineon DICE CEO Manfred Ruhmer says. "We have enjoyed strong growth over the past few years and are currently operating at three locations in Linz. In the Donaufeldstrasse building we will have the entire team working in one place so that everybody can share the high-tech equipment and continue to grow. The rooms are equipped for flexible use and ideally suited for our research and development processes in high-frequency technology. What's more, the building is in the immediate vicinity of our long-standing research partners at Johannes-Kepler University Linz and Linz Science Park." 
 
The high-frequency components developed by Infineon in Linz are installed in smartphones, tablets or navigation systems to improve reception, for example, or as distance warning systems in cars. Infineon is the technology and world market leader in the segment of 77 GHz radar chips. 
 
There will be 9,600 m² of state-of-the-art office, laboratory and measurement engineering space in the new four-storey building that will provide space for the current staff of 180 people plus an additional 220 Research & Development workplaces.
