About

The digital isolator continues to replace the traditional galvanic isolation transformer and opto-isolator as the predominant form of functional and safety isolation. System designers requiring a robust galvanic isolator can leverage its increased performance and power efficiency alongside decreased size and implementation costs to develop superior products faster with high safety. Infineon’s ISOFACE™ digital isolators offer highly integrated robust galvanic isolation and superior low power consumption for use within the next generation of industrial, automotive, and consumer technologies.

The ISOFACE™ digital isolator family with different channel configurations, input threshold, and default output state are suitable in applications requiring either basic or reinforced isolation. The dual-channel digital isolator family offers basic isolation whereas the quad-channel digital isolator family offers reinforced isolation to meet application specific requirements.

Infineon's ISOFACE™ digital isolators are used to provide galvanic isolation for safety in high-voltage applications and functional isolation for systems with different ground potentials and level shift requirements. They are used for isolated gate signal transfer in high-density power designs together with Infineon‘s non-isolated gate drivers in order to increase overall system efficiency. For instance, they are widely used in telecom DC-DC isolator brick applications.

In addition, Infineon's ISOFACE ™ digital isolators are the perfect choice for isolated communication (including isolated CAN, SPI, or UART) in multiple end applications such as industrial automation, telecom and servers, solar and energy storage systems, motor control, and EV charging.

They are the preferred choice for isolated gate signal transfer in high-density power designs and isolating communication interfaces such as UART, CAN, and SPI. In addition, the products are pin-to-pin compatible and can be used as direct replacements in existing customer designs for supply reliability. They also reduce system standby power consumption and improve system efficiency.
