Innovations

Infineon Warstein is the worldwide Infineon Technologies AG competence center for power semiconductor modules and systems. We take the leading role in the global market and have defined its standards for years. Leading-edge technical developments are the mainstay of this leadership position.

Technical Innovation

Complex, technical innovations call for the formation of effective networks. Accordingly, we maintain collaborative partnerships with universities, industry companies and associations. One part of the network is the participation in and initiation of projects funded by public sources (e.g. the German Federal Ministries of Education and Research, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, EU subsidies).

Innovations in Manufacturing

Infineon is repeatedly ranked the number one manufacturer of power semiconductor modules in the world market.

The Warstein site is home to both development and production activities, ensuring optimum consolidation of the relevant expertise. Collaboration in cross-divisional teams results in very short throughput times, from the idea to the finished product.

Production in Warstein is characterized by innovative processes and technologies which are unique throughout the world. Infineon Warstein is driving structural transformation in power semiconductor module manufacturing and is on its way to becoming an "Innovation Site". This means that our employees work intensively on manufacturing innovation topics in the course of the transformation from mass production to the Innovation Factory, along the entire value chain from the idea to processes and all the way to the customer. This is a fundamental contribution to the competitive strength and future viability of the site.

Innovation in manufacturing focuses in the areas process technologies, equipment and new materials as well as future-oriented automation, digitalization and manufacturing concepts.

Innovation Culture

Innovation is much more than just progress in technical developments: It is a central part of our corporate culture.

Management of innovations is defined as part of the realization of our corporate strategy and can apply to products, services, manufacturing processes, organizational structures, management processes and much more.

Practical implementation seeks to focus on the following areas:

  • Making creative space for employees as a basis for successful innovations and for recognition of activities in innovation
  • Strengthening the potential for innovation by collaborating with strategic partners
  • Collaborating on an interdisciplinary and cross-departmental basis

Participation in these processes is a task which calls for the active involvement of all employees. It also makes large amounts of free space for creativity and for the contribution of individual ideas. Our definition of the three pillars:

  • Manufacturing
  • Technology
  • Management, Culture and Social Programs

Addresses a wide spectrum of employees and strengthens Infineon as a whole. The motivation of these employees plays a crucial role. Any given innovation is usually born as the idea of an individual person. The implementation of the idea is then often the work of many individuals. Giving employees the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality means contributing to self-fulfillment, a major factor in motivating individuals. In this context we have installed several Innovation Communities dealing with various topic areas here in Warstein.

Thus a lively innovation culture contributes significantly to the future viability of the company.
