EZ-PD™ CCG2 USB-C Power Bank Solution
The EZ-PDTM CCG2 Power Bank reference design has a portable external battery which stores charge when connected to a charger and later delivers charge to an attached device. This solution has a USB Type-C receptacle which acts as a power source or sink (Dual Role Port).
The two major components on the board are Infineon’s EZ-PD™ CCG2 (CYPD2134-24LQXIT) controller and SouthChip’s SC8802 Buck-Boost charger.
The CCG2 device handles USB Type-C interface and Power Delivery (PD) 2.0. The buck-boost conversion, battery charging, Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP) and Short Circuit Protection (SCP) functions are handled by Southchip’s SC8802 DC-DC Buck-Boost charger. The board hardware design files (schematic, layout etc) and firmware are readily available below for customers to reduce the design cycle.
