In a full converter wind turbine, a generator is fully decoupled from the grid by the converter and entire wind turbine power flow through the converter. Full converters for low-, medium- and high-speed generators provide maximum flexibility to meet LVRT and other grid stability requirements. Infineon's IGBTs enable modular and scalable power converter designs, thereby helping our customers to realize larger power rated wind turbines. Full converters are available in the power range between 1 MW and 10 MW.
The PrimePACK™ 3+ is a state of the art power module package for full converters. Apart from IGBT5.XT we also recommend PrimePACK™, EconoDUAL™, and EconoPACK™+ with IGBT4 chip technology for full converter based wind turbines.
