Infineon offers FIDO certified U2F reference design solutions for USB and NFC tokens

As an active contributor to the FIDO U2F specifications, Infineon is also the first company to offer an interoperability proven pre-release demo for U2F BLE using a security microcontroller. Infineon’s reference solutions offer a fast and low risk path for authenticator manufacturers to implement the latest FIDO specifications while taking advantage of the security and integration offered by Infineon’s security microcontroller products.

Infineon’s U2F USB reference design is a single chip solution using the SLE 78CLUFX5000PH. This controller includes an integrated USB interface, enabling the full U2F authenticator to be run completely from the security chip. Infineon’s SLE 78 family includes common criteria EAL 6+ products that are used broadly in security applications such as ID documents, passports, healthcare cards, and drivers’ licenses. These products come in both contact-based only and contactless solutions.

Infineon’s U2F NFC reference design is a single chip solution using the SLJ 52GDL128CR. As part of the SLE 78 family this provides options for integrated NFC and USB interfaces. Products in the SLE 78 family can be used for NFC only authenticators as well as USB + NFC combined authenticators. Infineon’s SLE 78 family includes common criteria EAL 6+ products that are used broadly in security applications such as ID documents, passports, healthcare cards, and drivers’ licenses.

Bluetooth Low Energy is the next interface being specified for U2F by the FIDO Alliance. BLE provides an often ideal solution for external tokens to communicate with both mobile phones and PC’s. Infineon’s BLE solution runs on the SLJ 52GDL128CR and is set up to be easily integrated with any BLE transceiver.
