Infineon IR HiRel’s enhanced SMD-0.5e package relieves thermal mismatch in a save-spacing footprint

The new SMD-0.5e, featuring enhanced improvements to Infineon IR HiRel’s legacy SMD-0.5 device, offers optimal thermal management solutions in a simple, lightweight, and cost-effective package. Designed for IR HiRel’s industry leading rad hard power MOSFETs, the SMD-0.5e supports a wide voltage class ranging from 20 V to 650 V.

With a footprint of 10.3 x 7.7 mm2, the SMD-0.5e impressively conserves board space while eliminating the need for ribbon leads. The package’s enhanced thermal management solutions overcome related design challenges, such as material stress, with a new base design. The SMD-0.5e retains its hermetic integrity and reaches the qualifications outlined by MIL-PRF-19500, enabling JANS level DLA qualifications.
