HITFET™ +12V | Automotive Low-Side Switch
The HITFET™+ 12V family is the new generation of smart low-side switches for automotive and industrial applications based on a SPS1 technology.
The family offers single channel devices with a significant size shrink compared to the existing Classic HITFET™ 12V portfolio (up to 50 percent shrink).
This new generation consists of standard and fully featured variants (11 mΩ to 125 mΩ) in PG-TO252 (DPAK-3 and DPAK-5) and PG-TDSO-8 packages.
These two types of feature sets and packages offer a highly appropriate portfolio to match each application requirement. The whole portfolio is qualified and optimized for 12V automotive and industrial applications.
The overtemperature protection prevents the device from overheating due to overload/or bad cooling conditions. The HITFET™+ 12V devices have an auto-restart thermal shut-down function. The device will turn on again, if input is still high, after the measured temperature has dropped below the thermal hysteresis. The overvoltage protection can be activated during load dump or inductive turn off. The power MOSFET limits the drain-source voltage, if it rises above the VOUT(CLAMP).
In comparison to the basic standard features, the fully featured low-side switches family offer improved and additional features, such as driving applications with high switching speed requirements (up to 50kHz depending on DC), enhanced smart current protection feature for addressing applications with high inrush current, dynamic temperature protection which improved the short circuit robustness of the devices (10x better than the Classic HITFET™ 12V) and dedicated STATUS signal for offering Digital diagnosis.
A dedicated SRP pin offers the designer to easily balance EMI / switch losses based on his application requirement, with a simple external resistor connected to GND, and a dedicated VDD pin provides the IC supply getting the device RDS(ON) independent from the Input voltage.
In terms of protection features, HITFET™+ 12V is offering: enhanced short circuit operation, new benchmark current limitation concept, overvoltage protection and ESD protection.
