I was 16 the first time I entered a cleanroom. I knew right then that this is what I want to do.
Carolin is Chief of Staff to the Chief Digital and Sustainability Officer at Infineon (CDSO). Her journey began with winning a young researchers competition, which earned her access to a cleanroom as a prize. She later studied electrical engineering and worked for five years in development at Infineon. Now, her job is to support the CDSO to drive the two key priorities Infineon is taking on: decarbonization and digitalization.
Decarbonization refers to the process of reducing or completely eliminating carbon dioxide (CO₂) and other greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. The company has committed to becoming carbon-neutral by the end of the 2030 fiscal year for all emissions directly produced by Infineon and indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy. This endeavor requires multiple perspectives – technology, strategy, and people. Carolin’s role is to bring the right people together.
Opportunities to make a difference
We are enabling safer and more energy efficient cars with our sensors. Reducing CO₂ in the automotive sector and beyond is a must do.
But Infineon is going beyond that: Infineon’s products, such as semiconductors for renewable energy systems and electric vehicles, also enable broader societal decarbonization.
Yinghong is a Director of Program Management for MEMS sensors in automotive applications. For her, electromobility and hydrogen are the future. The automotive sensors that Yinghong Hu and her team create keep people safe – both in their cars and in their everyday lives. Powering some of the most-impactful advancements in sustainability, mobility and security, Infineon is providing the building blocks for a greener, cleaner and smarter tomorrow.
Quality through working together
Innovation isn’t just about new technology – it’s about exploring new ideas and supporting the people who turn these into solutions with a real-world impact. To give ambitious minds the time and space to innovate, facilitating Infineon’s digitalization program is a key part of Carolin’s role. Digitalization simplifies the daily life of employees and customers, so they can spend more time on the creative and impactful part of work.
We at Infineon have a willingness to experiment, the courage to fail and the determination to keep trying until it’s right. By learning from one another and supporting fresh perspectives, we are laying the ground for a culture of continuous learning and growth.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what position you hold. What matters are your ideas and values. At Infineon, everyone is heard. Everyone has a voice.
Putting people first
Work should never come at the cost of personal well-being. Supporting both personal and professional growth are indispensable pillars in Infineon's DNA, and we know full well that sometimes life happens. To this end, we support our people with flexible work arrangements, long-term career development and a workplace that values health, family and balance, and a community built on respect, inclusivity and support.
I want to look back at my career one day and be able to say: I have done my part to make this planet a better place. Knowing that our work as a team, the time and efforts we've invested here, have a positive impact... that really inspires me.
