Job description

In your new role you will:

  • Support the Regional Customs Officer and Head of Regional Competence Center in all Customs related activities in the Americas Region as needed
  • Ensure that compliant processes are implemented at all locations by utilizing IFX standard processes wherever practical
  • Implement control checks to ensure required manual and automated processes are effective and legally compliant
  • Perform checks of operational work flows, processes, procedures, and transactions at all relevant sites through internal audits and ensure corrective actions are taken as required
  • Conduct training for IFAM personnel regarding import control responsibilities and relevant regulations
  • Approve (or deny) export shipments, as required, based on defined rules
  • Perform compliance audits at IFAM sites and at various LSPs’
  • Distribute Customs Compliance News and updates, and relevant regulatory changes to all locations throughout North America
  • Create, develop, audit and/or modify procedures, SOP’s, work under instructions and training material as needed
  • Publish and maintain all relevant documentation, information, etc. on Customs intranet website
  • Manage and Communicate with appropriate government agencies, brokers and partners, as needed
  • Attend Regional ECC meetings, Compliance related Association Meetings
  • Exploit cost saving opportunities. (e.g., US-SFTA, FTZ, Duty Drawback, etc.)
  • Import control responsibilities including FTZ administration
  • Ensure Reconciliation Entries are filed correctly and timely
  • Manage and oversee participating customs programs (e.g. ISA, C-TPAT, etc.)


You are best equipped for this job if you have:

  • Engineering or Business Degree
  • Active Customs Broker license preferred
  • Two or more years of experience within the high-tech industry, including import, export and logistics, as well as audit leader
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Management
  • Basic understanding of U.S. Customs & Border Protection Laws and regulations, in particular, Harmonized Tariff Classification, valuation, marking, rules of origin, and Foreign Trade Zone Regulations
  • Experience in supporting U.S. Customs programs (e.g. C-TPAT, ISA, Reconciliation, etc.)
  • Strong project management/coordination skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven
  • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams and international environment
  • Must have advanced proficiency with MS Office and ability to work with a variety of technology platforms (SAP, Foreign Trade Software, etc.)
  • Occasional travel is required for business trips and off-site training
  • Experience leading projects, interact with other areas, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work with minimum supervision
  • Proactive, take initiative, customer oriented
