Photodiodes detect the reflected light. The light’s time-of-flight is determined with time-to-digital converters. Finally, post processing units provide point cloud information of the scenery which is then employed by use-case applications (e.g., assisted/automated driving applications).
A crucial part of every LiDAR system is the post processing which computes from raw photodiode data the point cloud data. The aim of this diploma thesis is to explore and develop innovative post processing solutions at various abstraction levels. Thus, post processing concepts shall be explored in Matlab / C / C++ and shall then be implemented in an FPGA-based rapid prototyping.
Infineon Technologies Austria and Graz University of Technology offer a paid diploma thesis in this innovative field of research:
- Exploration of innovative LiDAR post-processing concepts
- HW/SW co-design and prototypical implementation with the help of an FPGA platform
This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry. The salary for this position is 1.885,-- Euro gross p.m.(full-time basis) for Bachelor students and 2.210,-- Euro gross p.m. (full- time basis) for Master students.
