USB Typ-C wall sockets
USB Typ-C power control and power delivery ICs for advanced wall socket and adapter designs
Wall sockets include a USB plug to charge portable devices such as a smartphone or tablet whilst still being able to utilize socket outlets. They are easy to retrofit into existing systems without the need for additional wiring. Typically those sockets with USB are supporting one or multiple USB connections so that many devices can be connected simultaneously. A mains USB socket will typically split the amp rating by the number of USB connections. In this way, all power is used to charge one device if only one is plugged in. If several devices need to be charged at a time the current will be shared and a higher amp rating is needed to satisfy each connection.
Infineon’s USB-Type C power control and delivery ICs support flexible programmable power supplies. Advanced wall socket and adapter designs in small form factors, easy-to-use connectors supporting multiple protocols, and power delivery are enabled by Infineon’s USB-Type C power control and power delivery ICs.
