Portable IPL devices convert low battery output voltage into high DC voltage and switch high currents into the device head to emit high-energy light onto the user’s skin. High-voltage switching requires high-standard components carefully selected from a broad selection of IGBTs and MOSFETs. The OptiMOS™ MOSFET and the TRENCHSTOP™ 5 IGBT are the best fit for the high power density and efficiency requirements of IPL devices. Thanks to the combination of the CoolSET™ integrated stage and the CoolMOS™ CE high-voltage MOSFETs, a highly efficient AC-DC power supply stage gives the IPL all the energy required for a long-lasting and comfortable user experience.

The output energy of the IPL device should also be adjustable based on the user’s requirements such as skin tone and body part. Infineon’s multi-purpose PSoC™ microcontroller solution is also compatible with the EiceDRIVER™ integrated driver for MOSFET’s and IGBT’s so it works as a centralized control for internal DC-DC and AC-DC conversion, output power regulation and more.
