Joint News Release by Infineon and Kineto Wireless

Munich, Germany and Milpitas, California, USA – November 3, 2005 - Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX), a leading supplier of communications products, and Kineto Wireless, Inc., the key innovator and leading supplier of Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology, succeeded in bringing together two innovative technologies that will facilitate the rapid delivery of mobile and fixed Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services across a broadband Wi-Fi access network. The companies demonstrated several IMS-based applications using UMA technology to show the seamless handover between mobile and Wi-Fi access networks.

IMS is the open, standardized IP multimedia and telephony core network specification for mobile and fixed operators that is defined by 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project). UMA is the 3GPP global standard for Mobile/Wi-Fi convergence that enables mobile subscribers to roam and handover between cellular networks and WLANs using multi-mode mobile handsets.

The demonstration consisted of Infineon’s IMS client for mobile phones, operating with Kineto’s UMA client on a GSM/GPRS/EDGE-WiFi handset platform. The demonstration showed how UMA provides session continuity of IMS-based presence and push-to-talk applications when the handset platform passed between a live GPRS network and Wi-Fi connection.

With UMA, mobile phone users of media-rich IMS services can benefit from the higher speed and lower latency of Wi-Fi access networks to achieve improved application performance. With multi-megabit data rates, Wi-Fi offers a true broadband experience for IP multimedia services. Operators and handset manufacturers preparing to launch IMS in early 2006 can benefit from the higher performance capabilities of the UMA access network.

“Infineon is heavily focused on realizing a world of seamless communication. IMS technology will form the heart of the converged service network and UMA technology will bring the cost and performance advantages of Wi-Fi access to mobile networks,” said Dr. Christian Mucke, Vice President of Infineon’s Mobile Software Business Unit and Managing Director of Comneon GmbH & Co. OHG, the wholly owned wireless software subsidiary of Infineon. “Combining the complementary strengths of Kineto’s market leadership and best-of-breed UMA client solution for handsets with Infineon’s best-in-class IMS software is a large step forward for the future of converged services.”

Infineon offers a fully portable IMS client embedded in mobile phone terminals, which is also integrated into the APOXI TM (Application Programming Object-Oriented Extendable Interface) application framework and is optionally part of Infineon’s multimedia reference design platforms.

“UMA was created so that mobile operators could deliver all current and future services, including IMS over Wi-Fi and IP access networks. This demonstration highlights how UMA enhances and fully supports IMS services,” said Mark Powell, Vice President and Co-Founder of Kineto Wireless. “Together, Infineon and Kineto are paving the way for the faster deployment and adoption of both UMA and IMS services.”

About UMA Technology
Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology is the 3GPP standard for Mobile/Wi-Fi convergence. UMA Technology enables access to mobile voice, data and IMS services over broadband IP access and unlicensed spectrum technologies, such as Wi-Fi. By deploying UMA technology, service providers can enable subscribers to roam and handover between cellular networks and WLANs using dual-mode mobile handsets. With UMA, subscribers receive a consistent user experience for their mobile voice, data and IMS services as they transition between networks. The specifications are available for download at the UMA Technology web site ( www.umatechnology.org) as well as the 3GPP web site ( www.3gpp.org ).
