Infineon Helps Bring New Level of Security to Computer Networks; Provides Embedded Security Chip Solution for New HP Compaq Business Desktop PC
Infineon worked closely with HP to integrate a Trusted Platform Module ( TPM) compliant with specifications published by the Trusted Computing Group ( www.trustedcomputinggroup.org). Infineon also collaborated with HP to develop the systems user-friendly Security Management Software application and the HP Personal Secured Drive, which simplifies data protection through file and folder encryption protected with hardware-based key generation and storage.
We are very proud to extend our long-term relationship as a key supplier of components for HP Compaq systems and help the company be one of the first providers of this important new security technology, said Ulrich Hamann, Chief Executive Officer, Secure Mobile Solutions Business Group, Infineon Technologies. This program also represents one of the first publicly announced examples of Infineons success in delivering a complete solution in collaboration with a systems customer, marking an important milestone in the companys Agenda 5 to 1 strategy.
The Embedded Security option for the d530 series helps HP give businesses the tools to protect valuable data, without sacrificing the performance, reliability and excellent lifecycle ownership costs that are the hallmark of HP systems, said Brian Schmitz, Worldwide Senior Product Marketing Manager, HP Business Desktops. Infineon provided outstanding support to our product teams in turning this important and complex technology into a world-class, seamlessly integrated solution.
Infineon was one of the first semiconductor companies to release a complete Trusted Platform Module compliant with the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Main Specification 1.1b. TCG specifications define hardware/software solutions to support a hardware-based public key infrastructure (PKI) implemented in any computing device that interacts with other systems and networks. Ultimately, this will enable more secure data storage, online business practices, and online commerce transactions while protecting privacy and individual rights.
Complete hardware/software system for computer network security
Infineon, which is the worldwide market share leader in security chip technologies, including non-volatile memory, microcontrollers and cryptographic controllers, provides the secure hardware and the complete suite of embedded system and application software TPM systems require. This includes host software to integrate the TPM into the PC software environment and a TPM management application. The TPM, which can be controlled only by its primary user and system administrator, automatically checks system integrity, can authenticate the platform to third parties if authorized by the primary user, and provides protected storage for secrets, such as keys and passwords. With a true random number generator (RNG), hardware accelerated RSA and Hash Algorithms, and Active Shield technology, Infineon provides the highest available performance levels for TPM systems.
