Infineon Technologies and WIDCOMM Join Forces to Promote Combined Solutions for Bluetooth Applications
Munich/San Diego August 20, 2001 - WIDCOMM Inc., a leader in short-range wireless communications and Bluetooth networking, and Infineon Technologies (FSE/NYSE: IFX), the world leader for wireless IC solutions and first semiconductor company to receive Bluetooth qualification for a complete system solution, today announced a turn-key Bluetooth system solution targeting portable computers, hand held devices, cellular telephones, and wireless networking applications.
The two companies have combined WIDCOMMs BTW software and Infineons BlueMoonTM chipset to create fully functional Bluetooth 1.1 compliant solutions targeted for PC OEMs as well as contract manufacturers. The combined Bluetooth solution enables PCs and PDAs with Bluetooth capabilities. Infineon Technologies will provide its customers with development kits that will include the Infineon Blue-System Board, the Infineon Bluetooth evaluation and development board and a CD-ROM of WIDCOMMs BTW software.
