Success is joining together

Low losses and dynamic process control: The advantages of welding diodes from Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG in Warstein have developed into the core components of the Bosch Rexroth welding transformer series. This type of transformer is mainly used in welding robots for the automotive industry to connect e.g. body parts. The effective collaboration since 2004 is celebrated by both companies with the symbolic presentation of the 100,000th welding diode.

"We are very proud of our long-standing partnership with Bosch," says Martin Hierholzer, CEO of Infineon Technologies Bipolar. "We understand how modern technology is becoming more and more powerful through semiconductors; thus we enable solutions that make our customers successful in their respective field of application. Every component in Warstein is developed with passion and manufactured with precision - including our welding diodes, of course."

It has a service life of more than 10 million welding spots: One set of the welding diodes from Warstein can theoretically produce 2,000 bodies for automobiles.

Award for Innovative Component

The Lippstadt Innovation Prize was awarded during a gala ceremony in the presence of 220 guests at the Autohaus Sternpark. Every two years, this prize is presented in recognition of outstanding technology and innovation leaders in the region.

“We are happy to have received this motivating recognition of our work. And we are very proud that our products make an important contribution to the world’s energy supply”, Infineon Warstein General Manager Martin Hierholzer declared during his acceptance speech.

The new light triggered thyristor is the key component of modern high-voltage DC plants. This technology considerably reduces the complexity of control electronics and makes the component practically indestructible, which significantly increases the reliability of these plants.
