A responsible company

Microelectronics is the key to achieve more while using less. Highly efficient semiconductors reduce energy consumption and improve the performance of electric devices. Chips from Infineon help control the increasing volume of road traffic, making it safer and reducing congestion. They also increase productivity in agriculture and help people keep living independently – even at an advanced age.

Infineon has adopted the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and marries entrepreneurial success with responsible acting. We focus on conservation of natural resources and solve important challenges faced by society: energy efficiency, environmentally friendly mobility and security in a networked world.

Across all company areas, we consistently observe the strict requirements of the integrated management program for environment, energy, safety and health according to ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO45001. In addition, we are an active member of Umweltallianz Sachsen, the environmental alliance of Saxony.

The production of semiconductors is highly energy intensive. This makes energy-efficient production a decisive competitive factor. Every year, our efficient systems for energy recovery and consumption reduction save around 23% of the total energy requirement at the Infineon Dresden site.

An example of energy recovery in our plant is the use of waste heat from exhaust air or water recirculation systems. With two high-efficiency cogeneration plants, we meet rising electricity prices and ensure a supply that is both economical and environmentally friendly.
