Industry 4.0 – intelligent networked manufacturing in Dresden

A high level of automation and connected stages in the value chain are the hallmarks of both production lines. Over the past few years, we have further developed the 200mm line into the world’s most highly automated factory. The 300mm line was set up from the outset for fully automated production.

Anyone who wants to experience Industry 4.0 live should come to Dresden. Our smart factory transports wafers fully automated and is completely equipped with robots. It is controlled via central operating and monitoring systems as well as algorithms that run automatically in the background. We can simulate the effects of a changing product portfolio in advance and thus optimize production control. That’s how we respond flexibly to our customers’ needs. Quick and efficient production processes give Infineon Dresden a crucial edge in international competition.

Despite increasing automation, our factory is by no means devoid of people. Over the past years, many employees have gained additional skills and qualifications and perform increasingly qualified tasks. As a result, we have been able to keep the number of jobs constant in the past years. In fact, the number has even been increasing for some time now.

Broad technology portfolio for a variety of applications

With a total of more than 50 different technologies and technology derivatives, our portfolio covers a very wide range. We also continuously develop new technologies and optimize existing solutions. The technology expertise at Infineon Dresden includes development of new technologies, technology transfers from or to other sites, process integration, product engineering or electrical and physical failure analysis.

Pioneering innovation for a successful future

Infineon Dresden is currently making use of extensive know-how available at the site in around 50 innovation and technology development projects. Our highly qualified employees put innovations and new technical findings from production-related research and development into practice. Innovation is, however, not only limited to new technologies. Automation and innovative production concepts, business processes and methods, as well as maintenance concepts and equipment engineering are other innovative fields we are dealing with in depth.

Since the end of 2018, there has been an Infineon development center at the Dresden site. It focuses on developing new products and solutions for automotive and power electronics, as well as artificial intelligence (AI).
