Infineon’s System Basis Chips (SBC) combine power supply, CAN FD & LIN, diagnosis and supporting features
System Basis Chips (SBC) Unterkategorien
Infineon’s System Basis Chips (SBC) offer high integration and high performance at an optimized system cost for various automotive applications, including but not limited to: Body Control Modules, Gateways, Closure Modules (door, roof, tailgater, trailer), Seat Control Modules, Gear Shifter, Fuel Pumps, HVAC, Wireless In-Cabin Charger, Transfer Case, NOx Sensors and Exhaust Modules, Light Control Modules, Water Pumps. Our solutions combine voltage supplies such as LDO or DC-DC with up to 750mA, communication interfaces with CAN transceiver Flexible Data-Rate up to 5Mbit/s according to ISO 11898-2:2016 (including Partial Networking option) and LIN transceiver (LIN2.2/J2602) as well as supervision features (Wake input, Watchdog, Reset, Interrupt, Fail Output).

An SBC is an integrated component that combines common system features required on Automotive ECUs such as: communication transceivers, voltage regulators, diagnostics and supervision functions, switches and wake inputs.

Our highly integrated System-on-Chip solutions have various substantial benefits through advanced diagnosis features and minimized number of components.
Infineon System Basis Chips:
- Offers high integration and high performance at an optimized system cost for various automotive applications
- Extend battery life with very low quiescent current modes
- Improves the overall system reliability
- Reduced system cost through low component count and small PCB footprint (up to 80% smaller footprint)
- Enables design flexibility and reduces software design effort through shared state machine and SPI access
Emerging technologies in automotive make our lives easier and greener but increase complexity and costs. System Basis Chips (SBCs) from Infineon are facing these challenges by integrating power, diagnosis and supervision features in one single chip!
The SBCs family concept, enables multiple and flexible designs to reduce complexity and accelerate development cycles. Scaling from the Lite SBC to the Multi-CAN Power+ SBC, the product portfolio supports everything from entry-level automotive applications to complex control systems.
Watch the video above to understand how these devices help to save time and development costs in your project.

Infineon provide large variety of portfolio options from low to high power and scalable communication nodes with minimum 1 CAN FD transceiver as well as up to 4 LIN.

Development Tools/Support

Tool | Devices | Description |
Config Wizard |
|
Config Wizard for SBC allows easy configuration of Automotive SBC products. |
Microcontroller Library |
|
The Microcontroller Library is a plugin inside the “Config Wizard for SBC”. It generates and provides a custom “C” code based on the user’s configuration. The library can be integrated easily inside a microcontroller software project in order to configure, startup and handle all functionalities of the SBC. The user’s guide for this additional software can be found here. |
Bode Plot
|
|
Bode Plot Tool can be used to calculate and draw a Bode Plot for SBC products. |
Power Dissipation |
|
This tool allows the user to calculate the power dissipation of a selected device and if applicable then of external power devices. |
CAN PN Wizard |
|
The CAN PN software is a design-in tool for Infineon SBC users. Based on generic input data, it creates a sample code that can be used from users as a starting point for their application specific software development. It shows, how the SBC must be configured to enable a specific functionality CAN Partial Networking. |
