650 V/ 1200 V/ 1350 V/ 1600 V Next Generation Reverse Conducting IGBT
Higher Efficiency and Better Reliability
We combine the industry leading performance of the TRENCHSTOP™ family with the innovative Reverse Conducting RC-R IGBT technology to create a new generation of best-in-class devices.
The RC-H devices offer very low switching and conduction losses, improved thermal performance and reduced power dissipation. They guarantee the best reliability for resonant switching application, even in high ambient temperature environments. Optimized for soft switching behavior, they offer excellent EMI behavior thus leading to less filtering requirements and ultimately to lower system costs.
In summary, RC-R IGBTs, with a monolithically integrated diode, are the perfect match for soft switching application as induction cooking stoves, inverterized microwave ovens and rice cookers.
RC-H IGBTs matches perfectly with EiceDRIVER™ families of low-side and half-bridges gate drivers for IGBT.
650 V Reverse Conducting R6
The Reverse Conducting R6 IGBT family, with its monolithically diode, offers the perfect trade-off between power losses and EMI behavior for all soft switching applications, such as Induction Cooking stoves and inverterized microwave ovens.
The 650 V R6 portfolio, released in 3 current classes -30 A, 40 A and 50 A, provides the lowest VCEsat for best efficiency along with lower Eoff and overall improved diode performance. Thanks to the improved diode, the performance reduces the Vf and also the dependency of gate voltage. The measures shows a higher compatibility with existing gate driver solutions.
1200 V, 1350 V, 1600 V Reverse Conducting R5
The Reverse Conducting R5 family is offered in three current classes – 20 A, 30 A and 40 A - for blocking voltages of 1200 V and 1350 V with high ruggedness and efficiency, excellent thermal performance and lower EMI filtering requirements reducing overall system costs and design efforts.
The 1600 V R5 completes the latest generation of Reverse Conducting IGBTs, developed and optimized for the higher reliability demand of high-end induction cooking applications, offering best-in class efficiency with low switching and conduction losses for soft switching applications. The 1600 V R5 is available in 30 A current class.
The innovative Integrated Power Device Protect (IPD Protect, IEWS20R5135IPB) combines a 20 A 1350 V IGBT in RC-H5 technology with a unique protecting gate driver IC together in a TO-247 6-pin package for Induction Cooking applications.
A simple and robust solution with increased overall system reliability thanks to its protection against over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature plus additional features to protect your application against lightning strikes, instability of power grid, and other disturbances.
Whitepaper: Power device choices in the new small home appliance market
Energy efficient, modern-looking, wipe clean and hermetically sealed surfaces are only a few characteristics that a design engineer has to fit into one small home appliance. Infineon offers solutions for the two key areas – induction heating with IPD Protect, a RC-5 IGBT copacked with a protection gate driver, and motor control solutions using our energy-efficient, integrated power devices CIPOS™ Intelligent Power Modules and iMOTION™ Integrated Design Platform.
