600 V Reverse Conducting Drive 2
RC-D2 with the monolithically integrated diode offers improvements of the performance, controllability and reliability compared to the RC-DF
600 V RC-D2 is the successor of the RC-DF IGBT. The diode is monolithically integrated which makes this technology suited for consumer drives. The current rating of the diode was optimized in order to make this product even more competitive in terms of price and performance. The RC-D2 is also the first IGBT family to introduce the SOT-223 package to further improve the price by having a smaller package which is pin to pin compatible and replaceable with the DPAK package, fitting on the same footprint.
Main improvement compared to RC-DF:
- Adequate performance at competitive price
- Good enough di/dt controllability in order to reduce electromagnetic noise
- Improved humidity robustness (HV-H3TRB test passed)
- Wide portfolio with current classes range from 4 A to 15 A and 1 A to 6 A in SOT-223

We designed RC-D2 and IGBT6 with the minimum 3us short circuit capability at the worst case condition (Vdc=400V, Tj=150V, Vge=15V). Based on our feedback from customers, they are already using 3us IGBTs in consumer drives application without having any problems of protecting their topologies against non-regular SC events.

Whitepaper: Power device choices in the new small home appliance market

Energy efficient, modern-looking, wipe clean and hermetically sealed surfaces are only a few characteristics that a design engineer has to fit into one small home appliance. Infineon offers solutions for the two key areas – induction heating with IPD Protect, a RC-H5 IGBT copacked with a protection gate driver, and motor control solutions using our energy-efficient, integrated power devices CIPOS™ Intelligent Power Modules and iMOTION™ Integrated Design Platform.
