EDN Selects Corrent's Internet Protocol Security Processor to the Publication's Prestigious "Top 100 Products of the Year" List

January 29, 2003 - Tempe, Ariz. - Attesting to its dedication to delivering high-performance, comprehensive semiconductors and system solutions for high-speed Internet security, Corrent today announced that the editorial staff at EDN named Corrent's CR7120 to its list of Top 100 products of 2002. The only Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) processor selected to the prestigious list, the CR7120 was the first silicon product in the company's Packet Armor™ security processing platform. Since its release last May, system designers interested in a processor that offers complete IPsec packet handling and security at high speed have been using Corrent's technology.

One of the key criteria used by EDN for the selection of products was their readers' reaction to the technology. According to the editors who put together the list, "Thousands of new electronic products come along every year. All, no doubt, are useful, and many are innovative, yet only a relative few generate real excitement. At EDN we've noticed that our readers respond in a really big way to about a hundred products each year. Thus was born…the EDN Top 100 Products ". The list features the products EDN predicts will make the greatest contributions to their industry.

In addition to judging the products based on reader response, EDN looks at functionality, usefulness and uniqueness to select eight products for the list's Communication category. "Being named to EDN's influential Top 100 list is a testament to our commitment to developing and delivering proven technologies that fill a void in today's Internet security market", said Richard Takahashi, CEO and President at Corrent. "The CR7120 award is another example of the industry's recognition of the quality, robust security, high performance, and ease of integration delivered by Corrent products."

This announcement follows Corrent's selection as one of Fabless Semiconductor Association's (FSA) 2002 "Fabless Start-Ups to Watch" and culminates a year of many industry recognitions for the company's work in the Internet Security Market. Among other awards bestowed upon Corrent products; Microprocessor Report selected the CR7020 as Analyst's Choice for the 2002 "Best Security Processor Award."

About the CR7120

Using IPsec standards, the CR7120 operates at speeds up to three gigabits per second throughput using Corrent's new programmable IPsec packet engine to accelerate IP based Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) over both public and private networks. The technology handles complete IPsec packet handling and security. System designers incorporating the CR7120 into equipment such as high-speed routers, VPN firewalls, multi-channel VPN PCI cards, access concentrators and other Internet aggregation devices will see virtually zero impact to the system's optical speed performance as the network load associated with handling IPsec becomes transparent.
