09.09.2003 | Wirtschaftspresse

San Jose, Calif., September 9, 2003 - Jungo® Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today introduced OpenRG™ for Wireless Gateways and Access Points, a new software suite that has already been integrated into several new wireless gateway designs of wireless local area network (LAN) original device manufacturers (ODMs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

OpenRG for Wireless Gateways and Access Points is a highly integrated, embedded software platform that provides the infrastructure and broadband applications for wireless LAN gateways and access points operating within the 802.11a, b and g standards. The solution provides multiple layers of security to protect the local network from unauthorized users and hackers. In addition, its built-in authentication server enables residential and small office/home office (SOHO) users to define authorized wireless users without the need for an external RADIUS server.

"By adding wireless LAN security, and additional wireless applications to OpenRG's proven residential gateway core technologies, we are able to offer our customers a one-stop-shop solution for the rapid development of a variety of wireless access devices," said Udi Yuhjtman, vice president of business development at Jungo. "In addition, with a number of well respected OEMs and ODMs already deploying the solution, we are confident of our new product's success in this fast-growing market."

Supporting the latest market standards for wireless security, OpenRG for Wireless Gateways and Access Points includes the IEEE 802.1x port based authentication protocol, RADIUS client, EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP- PEAP and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA). Furthermore, Jungo's RG- Firewall™ and RG-VPN™ software modules provide an additional layer of security by isolating the wireless LAN from the wireline network and by encrypting all IP traffic between the gateway and the wireless devices.

OpenRG's core technologies include an optimized Linux-based operating system, optional VxWorks support, communication protocols, routing, network security, Universal Plug and Play, web-based management, remote upgrade capabilities and a wide range of home networking applications.

OpenRG for Wireless Gateway and Access Points supports a wide range of network processors and wireless chipsets and is offered as a reference design with some of the world's leading silicon vendors.
