Salt Lake City, UT-March 2, 2001-emWare, Inc. today announced a company-wide restructuring. This initiative included a reduction-in-force, primarily from its Salt Lake City, Utah headquarters. The remaining workforce will number approximately 90 people. In addition to extending a severance package, emWare is offering all outgoing employees comprehensive career counseling and support services through a leading career transition services provider to assist them with securing new employment quickly. In addition to an initial job search workshop and potentially a job fair, employees will have access to extensive career counseling and business resources for conducting employment searches with local and out-of-state companies.

"Device networking is an emerging market," said Michael D. Nelson, CEO and co-founder of emWare. "While many IT industry analysts expect exponential growth over the next three to four years, predicting the timing for this growth is difficult. Many companies made these decisions too late and that is why we are taking proactive, fiscally responsible measures today. Moving forward, emWare will focus on key markets to drive our technology, assuring we remain strong and viable for the long term."

emWare's remaining workforce will focus on delivering end-to-end device networking solutions that leverage its patented technology, existing products and strategic partners, with an emphasis on providing solutions that are more cost-effective and easier to implement. emWare's software unleashes information from everyday devices so these devices can be managed and controlled remotely via the Internet or other wide-area networks.

"emWare is known throughout Utah and the device networking industry for having extremely bright employees. These are outstanding, talented people and we regret to see them go," added Nelson.
