MOTIX™ | Multi MOSFET ICs
MOTIX™ Multiple Half-Bridge Drivers designed to control up to eight H-Bridges
Infineon’s MOTIX™ TLE9210x is a family of MOTIX™ Multi MOSFET Driver ICs, designed to control up to eight half-bridges (up to 16 n-channel MOSFETs) with one packaged device. Infineon’s TLE92108 and TLE92104 MOTIX™ multiple MOSFET driver offer a reliable and cost optimized solution with state of the art diagnostic and protection.
Target applications involve automotive DC motor and solenoid control, such as power seat modules, power closure systems and many more.
The devices of the MOTIX™ TLE9210x family are pin and software compatible. Further, the product family allows motor cascading: with MOTIX™ TLE92108 (8 half-bridges), up to 7 motors can be driven. All Infineon products of the MOTIX™ TLE9210x family are qualified according to AEC-Q100 and are designed to withstand the severe conditions of automotive applications
MOTIX™ TLE7182 device supplements the multi MOSFET driver TLE9210x family. This product is as well automotive qualified and dedicated to control 4 N-channel MOSFETs typically forming a full-bridge for a high-current DC motor drives.
The reference design describes a detailed implementation of a central door lock application, where the control of all lock motors occurs from a central location such as a body control module. It is shown how proper protection and diagnosis of external MOSFETs is ensured using the MOTIX™ Multiple MOSFET driver TLE92108-232QX in combination with OptiMOS™-6 half-bridge MOSFETs. The MOTIX™ Multiple MOSFET Driver is controlled by Traveo™ II CYT4BF series microcontroller, which is especially designed for body control modules.

Infineon's MOTIX™ Multi MOSFET Driver IC is a gate driver which can drive multiple MOSFETs with one single driver IC, providing a very cost effective solution on a system level. Having only one driver device for several half-bridges enables further savings, such as less pick & place costs as well as less required PCB space compared to discrete solutions.
The family concept is designed to drive either up to four half-bridges (8 n-channel MOSFETs) or up to 8 half-bridges (16 n-channel MOSFETs) with the same packaged devices. The 4- and the 8-fold devices have the same footprint, are pin and SW compatible. The Infineon MOTIX™ Multi MOSFET Driver IC family concept offers reduced design- in effort, high flexibility and scalability for e.g. motor control applications with variable numbers of motors.
Infineon's MOTIX™ Multi-MOSFET driver ICs use a patented concept of adaptive MOSFET gate drive. This multi-stage slew rate control enables EMC tuning via SPI, inclusive adjusting slew rate with independence from dead-time and turn on/off delays. The on-board measurement and self-adaption of external MOSFET switching times allows balancing of power dissipation vs. EMC performance, adjusts for MOSFET lot-to-lot variations and reduces the need of end-of-line calibration effort.

The MOTIX™ Multi MOSFET Driver IC block diagram shows the MOTIX™ TLE92108 device in a generic application setup and displays the functional blocks which are integrated in the driver device, e.g. the 2 flexible current sense amplifier (CSA) which can be used on HS, LS or in phase and the integrated dual stage charge pump (CP) which supports reverse battery protection and the usage of normal level MOSFETs.
For the TLE92108 devices Infineon offers two options: An App Kit and an evaluation board.

The Infineon devices are optimized but not limited for automotive applications, with advanced protection and diagnostic features. Target applications are seat motor control, closure systems as power lift gate control or sliding doors, various control of loads in a body control module with only one device as for example centralized door lock control, window lift, wiper, washer pumps and many more.
Yes, the whole product family is qualified according to AEC-Q100. The devices are optimized for automotive applications, offering an outstanding diagnostic (inclusive off-state diagnostic) and protection concept and enhanced EMC performance.

Infineon's Multi-MOSFET Driver ICs are optimized for automotive comfort motor control applications. Semiconductor solutions are getting more and more attractive to replace relay based solutions in automotive motor control. Increasing numbers of motors and increasing pressure on saving space, weight and costs accelerate the trend. Furthermore semiconductors lever benefits such as diagnostic feedback, higher efficiency, longer life time, higher precision, fast switching and programmability. Seat as one example of comfort applications requires a smooth movement of the seat and the passenger, what can be realized by PWM with ICs.
The PWM capable devices of the TLE9210x product family offer moreover an integrated slew rate regulation via SW to overcome the challenge of increased EMC caused by common PWM. The high integration factor of the device and scalability within the family allows high flexibility in changing numbers of motors in a seat application to use one design only for several platforms, no matter if low level equipped power seats or high level with e.g. 11 motors controlled from one ECU.

Infineon provides a broad portfolio for comfort applications as power lift gate and other closure systems (sliding doors, tailgate or power roof). In case of the TLE9210x family Infineon offers a dedicated product variant with an integrated motor brake mode. This is an advanced feature to prevent system damage by manual closure, what is a fundamental challenge for closure applications. The motor brake is configurable and usable in sleep mode without compromising the outstanding low sleep current of these devices. The regulated slew rates via SW realize an optimized EMC behavior during PWM independent of the MOSFET variation. Use TLE92104 for driving 2 lifting motors or extend to TLE92108 and drive additional motors as cinching latch or different functions of the trunk zone.
