Safety first

Infineon Technologies Austria AG is committed to providing the following public and emergency information on major accident hazards in accordance with the Environmental Information Act (UIG) §14.

In the event of an incident, such as a fire, technical failure or chemical leakage, safety is our top priority. To ensure that no such incident can occur, comprehensive technical and organizational measures are taken at Infineon in Villach, which are also regularly checked by inspections by authorities and external experts (EMASIMPRESISO 14001).

Information for your safety

In addition to comprehensive safety management, we would like to give you some information and recommended actions to be taken in the event of an emergency.

The police will make an announcement over loudspeakers if there is an emergency or accident. Switch on your radio. Information about what to do will be issued via the regional broadcasters:

  • ORF Radio Kärnten: 97,8 MHz
  • ORF Ö3: 90,4 MHz

The police and fire department will provide information on 

  • rules of conduct 
  • emergency and rescue services and will issue the all-clear. 

Siren warning sounds

The acoustic warning and alarm system, which is standardized throughout Austria, distinguishes between three different signals:

Warning

Impending danger!

3 minutes continuous tone

Switch on radio or TV (ORF), follow the given instructions. 

Alarm

Danger!

1 minute siren of increasing and decreasing intensity 

Seek out protected area or space and follow instructions given over the radio or TV (ORF).

All clear

End of danger!

1 minute continuous tone

Follow further instructions given over the radio or TV (ORF).

Information for your safety

Follow loudspeaker announcements!

The executive and fire departments will inform you about necessary rules of conduct by means of loudspeaker announcements. In any case, follow the instructions of the fire department, police and rescue services. 

Switch on your local radio stations!

Reports of a serious industrial accident, rules of conduct and all-clear warnings are announced via the regional radio stations. Radio Carinthia: 94.7 MHZ Ö3: 97 MHZ

Pay attention to siren signals!

Warning = 3 minutes
Alarm = at least 1 minute rising and falling wailing tone
All clear = 1 minute constant continuous tone

Behavior indoors!

Close windows and doors!

Immediately close windows and exterior doors on all floors (including basement) to keep smoke and soot clouds out. Switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems (main switch).
Have wet cloths ready Irritation and impairment of breathing can be reduced by wet cloths held in front of the mouth and nose.

Do not block telephone lines!

Only call the police, fire department or other agencies in an emergency. The telephone lines are needed for relief and rescue operations.

Call emergency for health complaints!

In case of health impairments, activate the emergency medical service! Contact your doctor or the medical emergency service immediately.

Behavior outdoors

Search for closed buildings!

Immediately go to a safe building for protection. Call children into the house immediately so that they are under supervision and do not react wrongly through ignorance. Children who are at school or kindergarten will be taken care of there. 

Accommodate street passersby!

Accommodate street passersby, assist seniors and the disabled. Let passersby, seniors and disabled people who can not safely reach their homes into the house.

Stay away from the accident site!

Onlookers hinder the emergency services (rescue workers) and also endanger their own health or even their own lives.
