Sustainable from the beginning
In 1997, after a successful ISO 14001 certification and EMAS validation, the first consolidated environmental statement was created. This was the first time that the efforts of the Villach colleagues for sustainable production were subjected to external control.
The fact that attention was paid to the environment at the Villach site even before the first EMAS audit is shown by earlier awards such as the Environmental Award of the City of Villach in 1992. Nevertheless, the first audit was an important benchmark and also a complete success: The auditors were impressed about the fact that even in the 1990s the efficiency of the exhaust air purification systems was between 90% and 99% and that CO 2 emissions at the site were reduced by 77% through the use of heat recovery systems, recuperators and heat pumps.
