One groundbreaking ceremony after another

The 2017 financial year ended with record sales of €2.5 billion. In addition to the strong global demand for power electronics, this was also due to additional business responsibility that migrated to Villach as part of the acquisition of International Rectifier. Taking advantage of the tailwind from the market, Infineon Austria announced the expansion of all three development sites. In total, capacities for 860 jobs are created in Graz, Linz and Villach.

Only a few months later, the next sensation follows. At the All-Hands Meeting at the Villach site, COO Jochen Hanebeck utters the sentence everyone present has been waiting for: "We're building a factory!" However, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 1.6 billion project on 10 November 2018 is not only the starting signal for the construction of our new chip factory, but also for a whole series of celebrations in Graz, Linz and Villach.
