Welcome to the era of power electronics

Dec 4, 1989 | Market News

At the beginning of the 1990s, the Villach site has arrived in the age of power electronics. As early as December 1989 Villach becomes the main location for SIPMOS production in the Siemens Group. In the following year, the Villach team concentrates exclusively on frontend production; backend processes move to Asia. This creates additional capacity for ACMOS and SIPMOS products.

With the start of the bipolar production and the end of the production of 256k DRAM memories in Villach in 1991, the transition is finally completed.
