In the course of the extensive expansions at the Infineon site in Villach in recent years, a new, state-of-the-art building was constructed for the Infineon plant fire department, which will be occupied as early as 2020. On Friday, 8 July, due to the Corona pandemic, it was officially opened and blessed by Provincial Fire Brigade Curate Harald Truskaller and District Fire Brigade Curate Kurt Gatterer.

The ceremony was attended by the Infineon representatives Sabine Herlitschka, CEO Infineon Austria, Oliver Heinrich, CFO Infineon Austria, Thomas Reisinger, Chief Operations Officer Infineon Austria, the Infineon Austria Central Works Councils Robert Müllneritsch, Gerhard Kuchling and Harald Zebedin as well as Josef Sticker, Fire Chief of the Infineon Villach Plant Fire Department, Reinhart Rohr, First President of the Carinthian Parliament, Harald Sobe, Villach City Councilor and Fire Department Officer, Villach City Councilor Erwin Baumann, Provincial Fire Department Commander Rudolf Rubin, District Fire Department Commander Patrick Unterrieder as well as representatives of the company fire departments of Carinthian companies and other Infineon sites.

The plant fire department consists of four full-time members and around 140 volunteer members distributed among eight fire department groups, who are highly trained for any anticipated operational scenario. Four specially equipped vehicles are available for operations. The new fire station on the Villach site offers space for a modern control center, training and meeting rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a mechanical workshop as well as a workshop for respiratory protection, garage spaces for fire engines and various storage rooms.

Josef Sticker, fire department commander of the plant fire department at the Infineon Villach site: "Infineon Villach has grown strongly in recent years, and we as the plant fire department must also be prepared for this. With the new building, we are well prepared for all necessary operations at the company site, but also for supporting operations in the surrounding area. The employees who work for our plant fire department, eight of whom are women, receive ongoing training in the course of courses and exercises. The cooperation with the regional fire departments works very well and we are also available for operations in the Villach region."
