Infineon Graz expands development for highly demanded IoT microcontrollers and is looking for up to 50 new employees

In view of the rapid development of electrification and digitalization, the demand for increasingly efficient and secure microelectronic solutions is very high. To meet this demand, the Infineon development center Graz takes over additional tasks and will hire up to 50 new employees by the end of 2022.

From now on, particularly fast, performant and energy-efficient microcontrollers for use in many areas of everyday life, will also be developed in Graz, which has been a competence center for contactless technologies. The focus is on the development, design and layout of innovative microcontrollers that are used, for example, in household appliances, power tools, e-charging stations and batteries for e-bikes, in solar systems or industrial robots and automation systems. Above all, these enables secure data processing in the Internet of Things (IoT).

Stefan Rohringer, Head of the Infineon development center Graz: "Smart factories, smart homes, solar and wind power plants or sustainable mobility solutions rely on microcontrollers from Infineon. These control entire systems intelligently, safely and energy-efficiently, ensuring that these different applications are ideally equipped for the complex requirements of the connected world and also the use of artificial intelligence. We are working with know-how from Graz on these solutions for tomorrow, which will be used worldwide. For this, we already need highly qualified employees today.“

Up to 50 new employees
With the additional development tasks, Infineon offers new, highly attractive jobs at the Graz site, which now employs over 500 employees and students.

By the end of 2022, up to 50 new employees will be gradually recruited. On the one hand, Infineon is looking for project managers and developers with professional experience - especially experienced system architects, concept engineers and verification experts. On the other hand, Infineon offers excellent job opportunities for young professionals from technical colleges (HTL), universities of applied sciences or technical universities with a focus on electrical engineering, communications engineering, IT or telematics. Here, the focus is on programmers, layouters and digital designers.

This will make the Infineon site in Graz one of the main development sites in the Infineon Group for industrial IoT microcontrollers, along with Austin/Texas, Bangalore/India and Shanghai/China.
