Villach, September 172020 – Within the framework of the Infineon Education Fund, Infineon Technologies Austria AG has been supporting the "Lerncafé” of Caritas Carinthia in Brauhausgasse in Villach since January 2020. At the start of school, Oliver Heinrich, CFO of Infineon Austria, presented the 70 children and young people with school bags with fountain pen, geo triangle and other useful items for their new school day. "With this gesture, we would like to make it easier for the children and young people to start the new school year and relieve the burden on their families. As a leading regional company, the promotion of education and equal opportunities in Carinthia is a special concern for us and a fixed component of our diverse corporate social responsibility activities.”

Mag. Marion Fercher, Commercial Director of Caritas Carinthia: "Children and young people have a right to education. With a good education their chances of a successful (professional) life increase. The school bags filled with school materials also make it much easier for our Lerncafé children to start the new school year. Many thanks to Infineon.”

Enabling education

In January 2020 Infineon Technologies Austria launched the Infineon Education Fund together with its cooperation partner Caritas Carinthia. The Caritas Carinthia receive funding to the amount of 50,000 euros from the Education Fund for projects dedicated to promoting school education for disadvantaged Carinthian children and young people living in poverty. The focus is on the expansion of the Caritas “Lerncafés”. With the Infineon Education Fund, a new learning group – the Lerncafé Infineon – was opened in Villach in 2020 for 30 children and young people. Pupils from six to 16 years are supported there free of charge with their homework and can learn for upcoming tests. Among the currently 39 voluntary tutors in the Lerncafé Infineon are also nine Infineon employees who volunteer in their freetime.
