Go to work in a place where other people go on holiday

Our sites in Austria are characterised by a high quality of life, central locations and good transport connections. They are surrounded by clear lakes and beautiful mountains that are inviting places for sports activities or relaxation. We have also put together framework conditions which ensure an excellent work-life balance and make integration into the new environment easier.

To ensure that our international workforce feel good outside work too, we work closely with the Carinthian International Club (CIC). This was formed in 2009 under the auspices of Infineon. The CIC currently has 35 member companies and over 1,000 individual members from 64 countries, and makes an important contribution to the sustainable integration of international employees and their families. Infineon has supported a similar initiative since 2012 with the Club International (CINT) in Graz.

The „International Day Care Center“ (IDC) initiated by Infineon is in the immediate vicinity of the Infineon site in Villach, and is run by an external partner, Sonnenstrahl GmbH. The IDC is closed on a very small number of days a year and has flexible, longer opening hours, so it specially addresses the needs of shift workers. Parents and children are offered an international, bilingual environment (German and English), with languages being included in the childcare in a fun way. For parents there are bilingual documents and international parents evenings. The children also learn together through research activities: in their daily work with the children, the staff provide them with materials to help the young researchers discover and ask questions. Experimenting together encourages the children’s language, motor and social skills. There are 120 day care places in total available for children aged from twelve months to six years, who currently come from 18 countries.

The International School Carinthia (ISC) in Velden is a private all-day school which uses English as its main language and German as its second language. Children are taught according to both the Austrian curriculum and the learning objectives of the International Baccalaureate.
