Coolest dimming solution 0-10V
There are different ways to dim LED lights – analog and PWM dimming. Analog dimming sends DC voltages to the dimmable LED driver IC which then dims the light in response to the voltage received. This method of dimming does not always provide the most accurate dimming. PWM dimming, on the other hand, offers much better dimming accuracy – in this case an interface can convert an analog 0-10V dimming signal into a PWM dimming signal.
Infineon’s CDM10Vxxx family consists of fully integrated 0-10V dimming interface ICs – all of which come in a 6-pin SOT package to cover space requirements on small PCBs. The LED drivers with dimmer devices are designed for various dimming applications in lighting. The dimmable LED interface ICs can be used to transmit analog voltage-based signals from a 0-10V dimmer or potentiometer to the dimming. This also includes PWM input of a lighting controller IC in the form of a current based PWM signal to drive an external opto-coupler. Apart from this PWM input option, no additional components are necessary.
All devices in the CDM10Vxxx family replace components in a traditional solution, reducing BOM and saving significant PCB space. They support active and passive dimming min duty cycle and dim-to-off. The CDM10V LED dimming interface IC can be configured and is the most flexible device. CDM10VDxxx dimmable LED interface IC devices are focused on applications with dim-to-off together with min-duty-cycle requirements and fully supports PWM dimming. Refer to the more detailed descriptions in the product table or the datasheets for the different feature sets.
A supply voltage of 6V to 25V ensures compatibility with all common LED lighting applications including luminaires, troffers, downlights, sconces, office lighting, and signage. LED dimming ICs can also be used for isolated signal transfer in industrial applications.
