The 150°C series expands Infineon’s 8-bit XC800 microcontroller (MCU) portfolio to provide a complete high-temperature family for automotive applications at AECQ-100 - Grade 0. Perfect fit for high-temperature applications: engine close cooling fans, throttle controls, turbo chargers, water pumps, oil pumps, and lighting.

About XC800-150°C microcontrollers
A set of strong peripheral features along with high quality standards has already positioned the XC866 8-bit microcontroller ahead of the competition in demanding applications such as automotive. This high standard of performance and quality is now further enhanced with the introduction of the XC866 150°C at grade. The flexibility offered by the XC866 150°C embedded flash products in 4K, 8K, and 16Kbytes is also expanded to include a family of compatible ROM versions for further cost-saving potential in high-volume production. Both embedded flash and ROM-based products include data flash for flexible storage and in-system updates of specific data.
XC866 150°C offers an optimized fit for a wide range of applications in a Grade 0 environment.

Another good example of the high feature integration with XC800 microcontrollers is this example of a general purpose pump or fan application. The XC878 microcontroller manages field oriented three phase motor control in this sensorless solution.
