EZ-PD™ Barrel Connector Replacement-Plus (BCR-Plus)

EZ-PD™ Barrel Connector Replacement Plus (BCR-Plus) is Infineon's highly-integrated pre-programmed USB-C port controller family targeting electronic devices that use various barrel connectors for power. It targets electronic devices that use custom or barrel connectors for power inputs and enables product designers to replace these incompatible connectors with USB-C.

EZ-PD™ BCR-Plus distinguishes itself from EZ-PD™ BCR and EZ-PD™ BCR-Lite for its programmable power supply (PPS) and the possibility to utilize both EZ-PD™ BCR HPI utility and the dedicated EZ-PD™ configuration utility to customize the parameters to customer needs. The controller contains a market-proven, fully-automated USB Power Delivery policy manager that interoperates with virtually any USB-C power source. Expert knowledge of the USB-C and Power Delivery standards or firmware development is not required to develop a robust USB-C powered system. To safeguard against system-level fault conditions, it integrates various protection circuitries including VBus-to-CC short, overvoltage, overcurrent and ESD.

EZ-PD™ BCR family is the ideal solution for electronic devices opting for a USB-C power input in lieu of a proprietary connector. It is compliant with USB Type-C and USB 3.1 Power Delivery standards, and allows designers to quickly convert their devices’ power input from a barrel connector to a USB-C connector without invasive changes to their existing design.
