Soundbars are used to generate crystal-clear yet powerful sound as a companion to flat-panel TVs. There are usually multiple speakers in a soundbar, that can generate from basic stereo sound up to immersive 3D sound. Despite the long shape of soundbars, the usable PCB area for a sound bar system is actually quite limited. Hence solution compactness, power density, high efficiency operation, less heat, or idle power generation are very important features to keep in mind when designing a soundbar.
Infineon's versatile class D amplifier solutions are very ideal for soundbar designs. The MERUS™ multilevel class D amplifiers work with smaller output filters and have only 1/10th of idle power consumption compared to traditional class D toppology, which makes them perfect for tweeter channels in the soundbar. The MERUS™ multil-chip-module class D amplifier family has very low Rdson and very high full load efficiency, making them ideal to power subwoofer channels in the soundbar systems.

Infineon’s latest generation of CoolSET™ AC-DC integrated power stages in fixed frequency and quasi-resonant switching schemes offers increased robustness and outstanding performance. These AC-DC solutions are enabled by the integration of the latest 700V and 800V CoolMOS™ P7 superjunction MOSFET family in both DIP-7 and DSO-12 packages.

Infineon's AIROC™ Wi-Fi & combos integrate IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WLAN and Bluetooth® in a single-chip solution to enable small-form-factor IoT designs. Combo solutions are available for both 1x1 SISO with up to 433 Mbps PHY data rates and 2x2 MIMO with up to 867 Mbps PHY data rates. These solutions can be coupled with external MCUs for RTOS, along with Linux on application processors to implement a complete Wi-Fi + Bluetooth® system.
