Corporate Citizenship Activities
Infineon Technologies takes its responsibility to heart. All over the world, Infineon Technologies supports people in need. Our company promotes the protection of the environment at all sites and is also actively involved in the promotion of health, technology, progress, and development. We also support cooperation with local and international schools and universities. It is not only Infineon Technologies as a company that evidences this strong commitment. The basis of all our activities and initiatives are our employees, e.g. donating blood as well as cleaning up rivers and support school scholarships. Read more in the following excerpt of our activities.
Earthquake in Japan . Our commitment, passion and willingness
Two days after the devastating earthquake in Japan, the tsunami and the ensuing disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant, Infineon’s crisis team instructed our staff in Japan to work from home. One day later, a travel warning was issued, and already on Tuesday Infineon staff in Japan were offered evacuation to Osaka.
The weeks following the earthquake a wave of commitment, passion and willingness from our sites came to take on responsibility within the company. Firstly, there were the donations themselves: Infineon employees from all over the world have to date paid over Euro 50.000 into an Infineon donation account especially set up for the purpose. In addition to the purely financial donations, employees held numerous benefit events - for instance at the Singapore offices or in Japan itself. Infineon’s Management Board, in turn, decided to give immediate aid of Euro 100.000 on top of a Euro 100.000 donation to the Red Cross.
Further exceptional measures were called for to ensure swift, direct assistance for the people on the ground. The funds raised were not to go to an anonymous relief organization, but straight to the suffering people: the employees’ families and Infineon customers.
Thanks to the participation and collaboration from all our sites, we could make it happen.
ESH Activities
The spectrum of Infineon Technologies Corporate Citizenship Activities in the field of environment, safety and health (ESH) are as broad as the communities we operate in. Some examples are:
- Blood Donation Campaign: At our site in Malacca, for instance, we cooperate with the local blood bank, actively contributing to the saving of lives.
- Spring Cleaning on the Elbe Meadows: Since 2001, Infineon Technologies Dresden together with the school that is sponsored by Infineon Technologies, participate in the event, which is organized by the city of Dresden to clean the Elbe meadows.

- Defibrillator implementation: Our site Warstein leads the way to implement this life-saving equipment in different companies.
Education for the Future Generation
Children are our future - but not all of them have the same opportunities. That’s why Infineon Technologies and its employees have started several activities to give the opportunity of education to children who need to be supported.
- Wheel, Walk or Jog – educate and mentor students to help others: In Singapore, the children can participate in the annual Wheel, Walk or Jog event of the Handicaps Welfare Association (HWA), a non-profit charitable organization. The children help by pushing the wheelchairs of the participating handicapped members. In return, HWA members can coach these children in basketball. Our site is the main sponsor of this annual fund-raising project. We provide financial aid and active participation.
- A*STAR Youth Science Program: Infineon Technologies in Singapore has set up this long-term collaborative program to increase interest, competence, and knowledge in electronics. One goal is to take science learning beyond the classroom. Schoolchildren have the opportunity to work with Infineon Technologies engineers.
- Educara: An Infineon Technologies employee, with colleagues and friends, formed Educara, an association set up to support children’s education in one of the poorest regions of Brazil. Its goal is to help people to help themselves. The association promotes and supports talented children and adolescents to develop their sense of social responsibility by motivating them to help others.
