OptiMOS™ is the market leader in highly efficient solutions for power generation, power
supplies and power conversion (e.g. servers, electric vehicles, etc.). OptiMOS™ devices
perform great in lighting and other medium voltage applications. The relative performance
of MOSFETs highly depends on the power range of the application and gate driver voltage.
Conduction losses dominate if the MOSFET conducts high current while switching losses
dominate at high switching frequencies. Conduction losses can be mitigated by using a
MOSFET with low R(DS,on). Switching losses can be mitigated by using a MOSFET with
low Q(G) and low Q(DS), or by employing smart switching techniques, e.g. quasi-resonant
control. The circuits below operate in continuous conduction mode where switching losses
are the highest.
