Sesames Award 2011

For the first time ever Infineon is nominated for the Sesames Award in two categories with one product. The S-MFC1.x, FCOS ^TM goldless package -The future of Smart Card packaging is nominated for the best “Hardware” as well as for the best “Manufacturing & Test” award.  

The FCOS ^TM gold less package provides high functionality that is required for SIM Cards and is a breakthrough in Smart Card packaging for high volume applications based on a flip chip connection from chip to tape without any gold layer on the tape.

ActiveNFC - Enable NFC in small form factors like microSD and SIM

Small portable form factors like the microSD or the SIM offer a huge opportunity to bring NFC functionality to mobile phones already deployed in the field. Infineon will show a demonstrator using an Antenna Booster technology which overcomes the lack of reliable operation in a wide range of mobile phones which current solutions are suffering from. Implemented in a microSD it demonstrates an NFC payment application when insert in a regular mobile phone.
