Example of universal gate drive units suitable for double pulse tests

The pulses to control the driver stage are created using a double pulse generator.
Ensure that the times t
are freely adjustable. Unfortunately there are only a few
function generators available on the market that offer this function as a basic function.
Alternatively, the double pulse function can come from PC pulse generating cards,
which are easy toprogram.
The load inductance must be calculated before the first switching tests begin. In the
following example, a 1.7kV IGBT module will be tested with 1kA rated current. The
maximumDC-bus voltage is 1.2kV and themaximum switching current 2kA. The pulse
