Monolithic level shifters are mainly applied in conjunction with IGBTs with a U
of up
to 600V and are often offered as a driver with six output channels. Rarely are driver IC
found for 1.2kV IGBTs, since they generally show no cost advantage compared with
other alternative solutions.

A disadvantage of monolithic level shifters is their vulnerability to negative voltage
transients at the output side, caused by parasitic inductances during switching events
